Lantern

You feel OK
Then the room goes dark and the ground gives way
And when it comes it comes in waves
It feels like you’re still home

It’s true when they say
That chains can only keep away
You need to cut them all away
Though it might not change a thing

And it’s a fine line
Between having faith and walking blind
Between giving up and wasting time
You just hope you’ll find the way

A page can turn
And bridges might be left to burn
But there is a point of no return
You will know when you are there

Aah…Here’s my lantern
It’s underneath some old poems
You’d written when you felt alone
And  you thought I shouldn’t know
I gave you my heart
But somehow I forgot to try
Until there was a diamond in your eye
Until you took that train

[Bridge…instrum.]

When there’s nothing left
When the dusty attics have all been swept
And you finally have a night you slept
You will wake up twice as strong

It’s a test you see
It’s the price you pay to cross that sea
And for all of that complacency
I just hope you’re still OK

[Chorus]
